John Mew – sinus problems

Your nasal sinuses are each side and above the nose. Many children cannot breathe easily through their noses which encourages them to breathe from their mouth. We have stated previously that this is a major cause of malocclusion of all types.

Orthotropics starts by widening the upper jaw which at the same time widens the nose enabling the child to breathe easily with their mouths shut! This increases the flow of air through the nose which dries up excess mucous so that the nose will not block again unless the child returns to the habit of mouth breathing. It is so important for a parent to keep an eye on this.
